Nonuple Nelson


This is the first of a two-part personal note regarding the longevity of this blog, bringing to an end one of it’s enduring (I hesitate to use the word endearing) rituals.

As long-term readers will know, in tribute to my love of cricket, this blog has counted off its anniversaries in Nelsons – that is, the demon score of 111. I’ve celebrated Nelson, Double-Nelson, Triple Nelson etc. And now this post represents… what’s the word for it? Nonuple Nelson?

Either way, that means that you’re reading the 999th post to this blog since it was started back in 2011, though we’ve only been a serious and reliable project since February 2012. Either way, it demonstrates industry and productivity, if not necessarily creativity and entertainment.

In short, I’ve been a bit of a wordy bugger, haven’t I?

The problem is that, once you get to 999, you’ve run out of Nelsons. So this has to be the last one.
